Local Lifestyle

Corte Madera residents enjoy small-town living with access to modern, upscale shopping, dining and recreation. It’s central location within Marin County, proximity to San Francisco, small-town charm and natural beauty make it a much sought after destination and choice for people looking to live in the Bay Area.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Corte Madera is home to two neighboring shopping centers aligning the 101 freeway—the Village at Corte Madera, and the Town Center Corte Madera, each offering a variety of dining and shopping options. RH Rooftop Restaurant at RH Marin at the Village provides perhaps the best hospitality and shopping experiences in all of Marin, as visitors can enjoy a glass of wine from the rooftop wine bar while they explore the multiple levels of stunning home furnishings, and can enjoy timeless classics for brunch and dinner on the roof with incredible views of Marin. The shaved ribeye sandwich, double patty cheeseburger with pork belly bacon, and chocolate chip cookies are all must haves.

If you’re looking for something less decadent, Blue Barn at the Town Center is a great option for casual salads and sandwiches. The restaurant has its staples but includes a rotation of salads and sandwiches with seasonal ingredients. Don’t sleep on the kids menu chicken tenders and tater tots either.

Things to Do

Birdwatchers flock to the Corte Madera Ecological Reserve, which provides feeding and nesting areas for migrating meadowlarks, great egrets, snowy egrets, avocets, and sandpipers.

Just north of The Village Shopping Center is Shorebird Marsh, a thirty-one-acre wildlife habitat, also a prime spot for bird watching. And for hikers, at the southeastern edge of town, you’ll find the Ring Mountain Preserve, a gorgeous open space overlooking the San Francisco Bay with wide-open hiking trails and views of San Francisco.

The Fourth of July Parade, which joins Corte Madera with its neighboring “twin city,” Larkspur, draws thousands of spectators and residents from all over the Bay Area. The event includes a parade through Old Town Larkspur, as well as festivities and a picnic in the nearby Town Park.
